Procedures to remove and reduce hyperpigmentation: Dr. Uskov's combined laser protocols

Before and after of hyperpigmentation removal on the face:

Introduction

Hyperpigmentation occurs when pigment-producing skin cells called melanocytes start to produce too much pigment, or melanin. Melanin is the pigment that colors our skin, body hair, and eyes.

Hyperpigmentation on the face can appear as freckles, solar lentigines, melasma, post-inflammatory reactions, or other darkened areas of the skin. Pigmentation can be caused by many factors, including excessive sunlight, hormonal changes, mechanical or chemical damage, age, genetic predisposition, etc.

Dr. Uskov's clinic uses a modern approach to the treatment of pigment spots, based on the use of laser technologies and individually tailored combined protocols. These methods ensure effective, safe, and minimally invasive treatment.

In addition to removal of the hyperpigmentation, the overall look of the skin was improved.

Laser-treatment for removal of hyperpigmentation

How does it work?

Laser treatment targets melanin, the main pigment responsible for skin color. Laser beams penetrate the upper and middle layers of the skin, destroying pigmented cells, which are then naturally removed by the body's immune system.

Our tech:

  1. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) – effective for light to medium dark spots.

  2. Q-switched picosecond laser – for treating deep and persistent pigmentation.

  3. Fractional lasers – simultaneously remove pigmentation and stimulate skin renewal.

  4. Tullium laser

  5. Erbium lasers (we currently have two different ones in our clinic)

  6. Other laser and non-laser methods for affecting pigmentation

For effective treatment of hyperpigmentation a specialist has to have many different laser devices to work with different wavelengths.

Advantages of laser-treatment

  • High accuracy

  • Minimal danger to surrounding tissues

Combined treatments

To achieve maximum effect, laser treatment is often combined with additional methods. Dr. Uskov's clinic uses treatment protocols where the laser or a combination of energy-based devices is selected individually for each patient.

Individual approach

Before the procedure, each patient undergoes a thorough diagnostic examination, which includes analysis of skin type, depth and causes of pigmentation, dermatoscopy, quantitative assessment of pigment if necessary, and examination under ultraviolet light.

Based on the diagnostic data, a personal treatment plan is created, which may include several stages and types of procedures, as well as discussing prognosis, aftercare, restrictions, and prevention.

Results and recovery

Most patients notice a significant reduction in pigmentation after just 1-2 treatments. A full course of treatment may include multiple treatments spaced 4-12 weeks apart. Skincare recommendations should be followed after the treatments, including sunscreen use and mandatory supportive care.
