Modern laser technologies against post-acne

Acne scars (post-acne) are one of the most common reasons people seek laser treatment. They can persist for decades and, although they don't cause physical pain, they can significantly affect self-esteem, quality of life, and social activity. This issue is especially difficult for young people, teenagers, and patients aged 20–35.
Modern laser dermatology offers scientifically proven and safe solutions for the correction of scarring of the skin after acne. Here, at Dr. Uskov kliinik we use the full range of modern laser technologies, adapted to different types of scars and individual characteristics of the patient.
What are acne scars?

Post-acne scars are the result of destruction of the skin structure after inflammatory acne elements. The most common types are:
Atrophic scars (ice pick, boxcar, rolling scars),
Hypertrophic scars (convex, dense),
Keloid scars (rare, in susceptible patients),
Pigmented and vascular residual effects (hyperpigmentation, redness).
Each type requires a specialized approach to treatment. There is no universal solution - that is why we use personalized protocols based on scientific data and practical experience.
Common problem
According to international studies:
Up to 90% of patients with moderate to severe acne have some form of post-inflammatory skin changes.
More than 50% of them express dissatisfaction with their appearance, and in some patients, scars lead to anxiety and social isolation.
Acne Scar Treatment Protocols at Dr. Uskov's Clinic
To achieve a pronounced and stable result, the clinic uses a course of combined procedures tailored individually. These may include:
Fractional ablative and non-ablative lasers (CO₂, Er:YAG),
Picosecond lasers for subtle and delicate changes,
Nd:YAG and PDL lasers for vascular components,
Micro-ablation + fractional treatment for deep rolling and boxcar scars,
Additional methods:
PRP (autoplasma therapy),
Microneedling,
TCA CROSS,
Injection therapy (including subcision techniques for deep scars).
Our clinic has lasers with almost all existing wavelengths used worldwide for correction of scar tissue. Therefore, some procedures have a longer recovery period, and there are procedures after which the patient can continue to go to work or study on the same day with minimal discomfort.
Why is early therapy important?
The earlier you start treatment, the higher the efficiency and the shorter the path to the result. This is especially true for young scars (6-12 months after acute acne), when the skin is still flexible, the vascular network is active and the collagen matrix is remodelable. However, old scars can also be significantly improved - you just need an intensive course and more procedures.
Safety and prognosis
Post-acne treatment requires precise and intensive intervention, but it must also be:
Safe
Gentle on the surrounding skin
Free from the risk of hyperpigmentation, scarring, or skin condition worsening
That’s why at Dr. Uskov’s clinic:
Only certified, expert-class medical lasers are used
Procedures are performed by doctors with specialized laser training
All methods are based on international protocols and current clinical data

Diagnostics before treatment
Before creating a treatment plan, an in-person consultation is required, during which:
The type, depth, and stage of the scars are assessed
If necessary, we will also perform:
Digital dermatoscopy
UV-light examination
Infrared imaging
Ultrasound of the skin and subcutaneous tissue.
This allows for an accurate determination of which methods will be most effective in your specific case.
How many procedures will be required?
As a rule, the treatment course includes 3-6 or more procedures, spaced 4-8 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on:
The number and depth of the scars,
Their location (cheeks, chin, back, etc.),
The patient’s age and skin type,
Individual results
Everyone person has unique skin. The results of treatment depend on a combination of factors ranging from the nature of acne in the past to the rate of restoration of collagen fibers. We always provide a realistic prognosis and before-after photos so that you can evaluate the potential results of the therapy.
