Using a silicone patch for scar treatment
A silicone patch is one of the most well-studied and proven adjunctive tools for treating scars. It helps improve the appearance of the scar, as well as reduce its thickness, redness, and discomfort.
How to use the patch?

Apply the patch over the scar area, ensuring it covers an additional 0.5–1 cm of healthy skin around it.

The skin under the patch should be calm, with no signs of inflammation, infection, or damage.

It is recommended to wear the patch continuously, removing it only when necessary.

Many modern silicone patches do not need to be removed until they become dirty, lose their adhesiveness, or otherwise require replacement.

We recommend using the patch daily and continuing to wear it until your next procedure. In some cases, its use may continue for several months.
Which patch should you choose?
There are usually no significant differences between most silicone patches. A higher price does not guarantee greater effectiveness. Many patients successfully use silicone patches purchased from popular online marketplaces. The cost of such patches can start at 4–5 euros per roll, and the use of these products is perfectly acceptable.
For exposed areas of the skin, it is convenient to use skin-toned patches. They are less noticeable to others and allow for comfortable everyday wear.
Sun protection
A silicone patch simultaneously provides mechanical protection for the scar against sun exposure. In many cases, while wearing the patch, there is no need to apply additional sunscreen directly to the scar area. However, after removing the patch, it is recommended to follow general sun protection guidelines when spending time in the sun.
When should you stop using the patch?
If you experience any of the following while wearing the patch:

skin redness

itching

rash

irritation

any other signs of an allergic reaction
you must stop using the patch and contact the clinic. The cause may be an allergy to the adhesive, silicone, or another component of the product. The doctor will advise you on the next steps and, if necessary, offer an alternative treatment option.
